David R. Green

President/CEO

Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center

 

Born and raised in Galesburg, Illinois, Dave returned to the Midwest after eighteen years living and working in the southern United States to assume the position of CEO for the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center (MVRBC) in June of 1999.  As CEO, he is responsible for oversight for all blood program activities for the 45 counties served by MVRBC, as well as blood therapy support for 53 hospitals in Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Missouri. 

 

Prior to joining MVRBC, Dave served in various executive capacities with the American Red Cross Biomedical Program for nine years, including Chief Executive Officer for the Southeastern Region in Savannah, GA. 

 

Dave served for nine years as an active duty Army officer in command and staff assignments after completing his undergraduate education at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois.  During his tenure with the Army, Dave earned his Masters degree in Administration from Central Michigan University.

 

Dave is a director and the immediate past Chair for BCA/hemerica, and serves as a Director for America’s Blood Centers – both National industry organizations.  He also serves as a founding board member for Information Technology Systems, a Limited Liability Corporation dedicated to maintaining blood bank software systems for community blood centers.

 

He is also active in the Quad Cities community, serving with:

Dave is married to the former Kathleen Shields, has a daughter (Kimberly – age 24) who is a student here in the Quad Cities, and a son (David – age 21) recently returned from National Guard duty as a combat medic in Iraq, and two stepsons (Tyler – age 12 and Sam – age 8).  He is also grandfather to Kiana (age 4) and Caleb (age 1).
