New Student Teacher Meeting:
1.
Pick up an application form.
2.
Download an application from my homepage and then type your information.
Single space as much as possible. Follow the guidelines on the sheet. Remember
your application is the first time people will “see you in print”. Only
perfection is acceptable.
3.
You may request a placement, however, your request may or may not be
honored. Do not request a
building where you attended or were employed, relatives are employed, or your
children attend. Double placements
are usually made in one district.
- Use
professional writing. Have
someone (The Student Success Center in Ambrose 243 is very helpful) read
over your application. If there
are mistakes, you have two days to redo the application, or you will be
denied student teaching. Your
advisor is wonderful help! (See
#3 again.)
- Applications
are due in my office on November 14. Late
applications might delay placements. Late applicants must petition the Teacher Education
Working Committee because Student Teaching will be denied.
Remember to keep a copy of your application.
- Once
placements are made, they are final. Changes
may not be made. Please contact
your cooperating teacher(s) as soon as you have your placement(s).
- Placements
will be posted outside Ambrose 204 on May 1 for fall placements and Nov. 1
for spring placements. However,
it is possible that some placements will be later depending on responses
from local districts.
- If
there are any serious changes (incompletes, failure to pay tuition, failed
classes, illness) in your situation that could affect your student teaching,
please notify me immediately.
- Student
teaching is the last requirement of your major. Unless it is absolutely
necessary for you, limit outside commitments such as working, taking
classes, or coaching. Apply for graduation one year before you graduate.
- Remember,
you are a guest in the school and are representing St. Ambrose at all times.
Do your best. Good Luck!
