Teacher Education Program
First in the state to earn national accreditation
The St. Ambrose University Teacher Education program is the first in the state of Iowa to earn national accreditation from the Teacher Education Accreditation Council.
St. Ambrose University’s Teacher Education Program, which is designed to produce caring, qualified and competent teachers, is accredited by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council for a period of five years from 2007-2012. This accreditation certifies that the St. Ambrose professional education program has provided evidence that it adheres to TEAC’s quality principles.

There is a nationwide demand for teachers and administrators from preschool through high school.
The St. Ambrose Teacher Education Program (TEP) has received statewide recognition for the quality of its programs and graduates. Majors enjoy a low student-teacher ratio and are assigned faculty mentors to help guide them throughout their education in the teaching field(s) they choose. TEP graduates qualify for Illinois certification after passing Illinois tests and getting Iowa licensure.
Undergraduate degrees include: Early Childhood (birth to 3rd Grade), Elementary Education (K - 6th Grade with choice of endorsement(s): (K - 8th Grade) math, reading, language arts, science, social science, foreign language, and special education, Strategist I), Secondary Education ( 5th - 12th Grade with content majors) and Bachelor of Education (BED) for those who have a B.A. or B.S. degree.
Graduate education program degrees are also offered in the areas of Special Education and Educational Leadership.
