Let Sleeping Cats Lie The heat broke last night Finally. No rain yet, But, this morning, The breeze Lifts the curtains On the porch, Cools us. Bob, stretched out In her bay window Snaps at you As you poke At her white, white belly. A Bobwhite calls, “Bob-white. “Bob-white.”
As the curtains Pull away from the windows Pushed by the breeze I see glimpses of Bob, Asleep now, Ears swivel slightly Now and then, Her radar Always on. I call her name. The radar dish moves Infinitesimally. The paw flexes. She snores slightly.
