Waiting for a train..., by Ann Berger, 2003

Waiting
for a train to pass. Waiting
for an empty bathroom stall, Or
your doctor to arrive. Waiting
for the pregnancy test results- Or
the clock to strike 6 to view the fruits of Santa’s labor. Waiting.
Patiently – for your daughter’s tantrum to end. Waiting
for the doctor to report on your father’s surgery, the
results of your mother’s biopsy, the
lonely feeling of 2 a.m. Waiting
for the moment when things will go right- Realizing
that things are wrong. Here
we are, waiting for a train to pass, When
really we are living in the moment. |
