A Moment's Notice, by Julie Townsend, 2003

Just
a moment... Inside
Savitri's, a waiter peers out from a second-story window, observing the
lunch time traffic below.
Business people wearing the badges of their profession stride to their
destinations- neither
hurriedly nor leisurely. A semi traverses the street with a low roar, as a
train is heard rumbling
and announcing its passing through this river town. The
sun shines warmly on these working travelers. They do not seem to take
notice of the beauty that
is sprouting up along their paths. Hanging baskets of cascading flowers,
original sculptures carefully
placed in meticulous gardens, the architecture of the past merging with
trendy aesthetics
of the present Perhaps
they do appreciate these tokens of inspiration on a subtle level, and
return to work refreshed. |
