KALA radio celebrated 40 years of broadcasting on October 4 with several special events. The morning started with live coverage of the SAU Presidential Inauguration Mass from Christ the King Chapel. That afternoon, they joined TV-11 for a live simulcast of the Inauguration ceremony from the Galvin Fine Arts Center.

KALA alumni then gathered at the radio station that evening for a reunion. They reminisced on the air with station manager, David Baker ’88 for more than three hours with stories of their experiences at the St. Ambrose FM station, which first hit the airwaves in 1967.

Among those at the event were: John Collins ’69, Dave Coopman ’70, Steve ’91 and Martha (Garcia) Tappa ’92, Tom Maicke ’92, Maggie Meares ’95, Kami (Keehner) Booth ’91, Matt Carroll ’07, Amy (Hoover) Jones ’02, John Resnick ’91, Clay Sander ’92, Laura Ernzen ’99, Nathaniel Krell ’07, Rick Meyer ’84, Phil Roberts ’71, Anthony Forlini ’00, Terrance Romero ’06, Brad Mosier ’85, Chad Eng ’97, Andy Shoemaker ’95, Mark Allen ’92 (pictured above), Dennis Sekharan ’93 and Eric Bowe ’07… plus Galvin faculty/staff: Ann Preston, Ken Colwell ’73, Don Schneider ’76, Mike Kennedy ’60 and Corinne Johnson. John Keith ’75 and Kevin Shetler ’85 were among those that called in live to the event.
