ASSOCIATE DEAN AND DIRECTOR OF H. L. MCLAUGHLIN MBA PROGRAM
St. Ambrose University, a Roman Catholic diocesan-affiliated liberal arts institution, seeks an Associate Dean and Director for its H. L. McLaughlin MBA Program for its College of Business to start in July, 2010.  The College of Business includes seven academic departments: accounting; communication; computer and information science; finance, economics, and decision sciences; industrial engineering; managerial studies; and marketing.  The College offers undergraduate degrees in all areas and master’s degrees in accounting, business administration, information technology management, and organizational leadership, as well as a doctor of business administration degree. The college is nationally accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).   

Responsibilities: The Associate Dean and Director of the H. L. McLaughlin MBA Program reports to the Dean of the College of Business and is responsible for advancing the mission of the College of Business by providing strong leadership and managing the day-to-day operations of the MBA Program, collaborating with university departments in marketing the MBA Program, recruiting and advising MBA students, and working effectively with faculty on designing and modifying curriculum.  This individual will also assist in upholding the College’s accreditation standards, developing new programs and initiatives, and fostering relationships with alumni and the business community.

Qualifications:  Candidates should possess an earned doctorate, administrative or managerial experience, a strong understanding of academic culture and issues facing higher education, prior teaching experience, and a collaborative management style.  Candidates should be results-oriented and be able to build effective relationships with internal and external constituents.

Director of BSN Program
St. Ambrose University Department of Nursing invites applications for the position of Director of the BSN program. Responsibilities for this tenure-track faculty position include faculty recruitment and development, budgetary management, curriculum development, scheduling BSN and RN-BSN programs and program assessment. Teaching responsibilities include one course per semester. Qualifications include a doctoral degree in nursing or a related field. Although an earned PhD is preferred, applicants who are ABD will be considered. Requirements for this position include a master’s degree in nursing, experience in nursing education, and licensure or eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in Iowa. St. Ambrose is a Catholic, liberal arts, diocesan university with an enrollment of over 3700 students and rated among the top universities in the area by The Princeton Review and US News & World Report. DIRECTOR, STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
St. Ambrose University seeks an energetic, relationship-oriented and proven leader to direct student engagement initiatives outside the classroom in support of the University mission. Reporting to the Associate Vice President & Dean of Students, the Director is responsible for contributing to the student services leadership team and the oversight of a comprehensive student services program. Specifically, the primary responsibility will be to promote and support student engagement, involvement, leadership, and development across the campus community to further the University mission. Toward that end, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to create, implement, and assess the effectiveness of a comprehensive strategic vision for the student activities, intercultural life, leadership, and student center areas.

Minimum of a Master's degree in college student personnel, counseling or a related field of study and 5-7 years of experience in area of responsibility required. Demonstrated direct experience and knowledge of facilitating a comprehensive student activities program is a must.  Position is a twelve-month appointment with competitive salary and University benefits including tuition remission. Full-time, live-in staff member reporting to the Director of Residence Life.  Manage a residential area of 200-270 and assist with the leadership and administration of all areas related to housing/residence life for campus population of 1,500, including staff selection, training & supervision (direct supervision of 4-8 RAs), central office responsibilities and on-call duty, developing strong inclusive communities, advising hall government, and managing student conduct and programming.  Join our team; take the opportunity to be part of a dynamic staff at a private institution, allowing you to wear many hats. Assistant Professor - Communication  (Speech Communication)
The St. Ambrose University Department of Communication seeks an Assistant Professor of Communication, tenure-track, to fill a new position beginning August 15, 2010 (pending funding). Candidates should be prepared to teach courses in public speaking, survey of human communication, interpersonal communication and organizational communication.  Special consideration will be given to applicants with an interest in social media.

The Department of Communication offers majors in Journalism, Public Relations and Strategic Communication, Media Studies, and Radio/TV, which serve about 125 undergraduates. The Department also serves the general education curriculum through courses in public speaking, survey of human communication, and interpersonal communication. The successful applicant will join a department of 10 faculty and administrative colleagues. The Department of Communication is housed within the College of Business, which is the largest college on campus, and we are one of the largest departments within the CoB.
In addition to offering four academic majors, the department houses TV-11, a 24-hour cable television channel; KALA, a 24-hour FM radio station; and the Buzz, the university newspaper.  Our Web site also provides a wealth of information concerning our department and its media outlets.

NURSING ADJUNCT FACULTY
The Department of Nursing at St. Ambrose University invite applications for the following positions for Spring 2010:

  • One adjunct position in the area of Pediatrics for intervention classes. This position involves three two hour days per week (Mon/Thurs/Fri) over the Spring semester.
  • One adjunct position in the area of Community Health/Home Care for clinical. This position involves one 8 hour day per week (one Thurs, 6 Fridays) for the Spring semester.
  • Four adjunct positions in the area of Adult Health for clinical. These positions involve two 8 hour days per week (Tues/Wed) over the Spring semester. 

Candidates with a master’s degree in nursing are preferred; a bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.  Candidates must be licensed in Iowa or eligible for an Iowa license. Assistant Professor - Philosophy
St. Ambrose University, tenure track, Assistant Professor of Philosophy. Area of specialization: Applied ethics, especially business ethics.  Area of competence: 20th-21st Century Philosophy and/or social/political philosophy.  Ph.D. in hand by August 2010 (ABD will be considered). The position is contingent upon budgetary approval.  In a department firmly committed to undergraduate liberal arts education, all faculty members teach from the introductory to the advanced levels in both general education and in a philosophy major program.  Priority will be given to applicants showing evidence of effective teaching and scholarly engagement. Assistant Professor - Speech-Language Pathology
St. Ambrose University invites applications for a 12-month tenure-track position to begin July 1, 2010. Qualifications include: Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology, ABD candidates will be considered, and eligibility for ASHA CCC-SLP and state licensure is preferred. Duties include teaching, advising, clinical supervision, and scholarly activities. Area of expertise is open. The Master Speech-Language Pathology Program is located in the College of Education and Health Sciences and enjoys close ties with other departments, with the community, and with schools and hospitals in the area. The program recently moved to a newly renovated facility.
