Governor Proclaims September as Iowa Industrial Engineering Month
Proclamation:
Whereas,
the Industrial Engineering profession integrates people, processes,
information, and other resources to enhance global competitiveness in all
segments of society; and,
Whereas,
Industrial Engineering practice is concerned with the design, analysis,
improvement, and installation of integrated systems of people, material,
information, equipment, and energy; and,
Whereas,
the Institute of Industrial Engineers has provided leadership in
developing industrial engineering for fifty years; enhancing the
capabilities of those who are involved in the application, education,
training, research or development of industrial engineering; and
representing the industrial engineering profession in manufacturing,
government, academia, health care, service industries, and not-for-profit
agencies; and,
Whereas,
the Institute of Industrial Engineers has approximately 23,000 members
internationally; with three senior chapters and two student chapters in
the State of Iowa that are committed to broadening the education of over
300 members on the widespread application of their skills:
Now,
therefore, I, Thomas J. Vilsack, Governor of the State of Iowa, do hereby
proclaim the month of September, 2002, as
IOWA INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING MONTH
In
recognition and in support of the valuable service provided by the
Institute of Industrial Engineers and its chapters, I urge citizens to
participate in the 5th annual celebration of "Iowa Industrial
Engineering Month."
In
testimony whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name and caused the great
seal of the State of Iowa to be affixed.
