1. What is KALA-FM?
   
   KALA-FM is a non-commercial radio station operated by St. Ambrose University, Davenport, IA. It transmits on 88.5 mHz operating at 10,000 Watts, serving the Quad-City region, and K288CY serves the eastern Quad Cities with KALA's programming on 105.5 mHz. KALA also broadcasts two HD (Hybrid Digital) radio channels, KALA HD-1 and KALA HD-2.  A radio receiver capable of receiving HD signals is required to receive these two digital channels.  HD radio offers a higher quality sound on multiple subcarriers.  A standard FM radio receiver is all that is needed to receive KALA's main (analog) signal.  KALA HD-1 offers a digital version of the main KALA programming channel, while KALA HD-2 provides a secondary programming outlet not heard on the main (analog) frequency.
