Fighting Bees nab 1,000 point scorer's son

Davenport, Iowa - Coach Ray Shovlain is excited to announce the signing of Brock Lunardi for the 2008-09 season. Brock Lunardi is the son of former St. Ambrose graduates Tony Lunardi and Jane Lunardi (Schmits). Tony was an excellent athlete at Assumption High School as well as a four-year letter winner and 1,000 point scorer for the Fighting Bees from 1984-1988.

Brock Lunardi has had a strong career at Hargrave High School in Huffmann, Texas and will follow in his father's footsteps next season. Brock, a 6'5'', 170 lb. forward, averaged 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and shot 83% from the free throw line during his senior campaign. He was a three year varsity starter, his team's captain and MVP, and was named to the All-District 21 team in three consecutive seasons.

For his career, Lunardi scored over 1,300 points and hauled in over 800 rebounds at the 4A basketball level.

"It is a unique opportunity to have a former player's son join the program," Coach Ray Shovlain said. "We look forward to Brock's contributions over the next four years."
