Muscatine's Jake Wagg commits to Fighting Bees
Davenport, Iowa - Coach Ray Shovlain is excited to announce
the signing of Muscatine's Jake Wagg for the 2008-09 season. Wagg, a three year
starter for the Muskies, chose St. Ambrose over a host of schools that recruited
him.
The 6'1, 175 pound Wagg, had a terrific career at Muscatine
High School. Wagg ranks in the top five in Muscatine's all-time scoring list at
905 points. For his career, he averaged 16 points, four rebounds and shot 80%
from the foul line.
Wagg, who led the Mississippi Athletic Conference in three
pointers made (45) his senior year, was selected 2nd team All-Conference in both
his junior and senior seasons. Wagg was selected 2nd team All-Metro his senior
year after receiving Honorable Mention consideration in his junior campaign. He
was selected as his team's MVP in his junior and senior seasons and made the
All-District team twice in his career.
"We feel that Jake has an outstanding three point shooting
ability, as exemplified by his numbers at Muscatine," Coach Ray Shovlain said.
"As a team MVP and leader for the past two years, we feel very comfortable that
Jake will be able to assume that role for us here."
Wagg will be the newest addition to an Ambrose roster that
has had a lot of success with Muscatine players. Last season was the first year
that the Bees have not had a Muskie on the team in twenty years.
"We are always pleased to get a player from Coach
Youngbauer's program because they are always very skilled and well coached,"
Coach Ray Shovlain said. "We've been blessed to get a player from Terry [Youngbauer]
for the past 20 years."
