Fahrenkrog's free throws save Bees

Marshall, MO - With the Bees down one point in the final possession, Missouri Valley forced a desperation three point attempt from Adam Parrot. Parrot's shot hit the backboard and bounced to a slicing Fahrenkrog, who was fouled on the put back with .4 seconds to go. Fahrenkrog then hit two free throws to seal the game.

Fahrenkrog's free throws gave the Bees just their second lead of the game. They took the lead for one possession in the second half before Missouri Valley answered with a Boman Mullings bucket.

The Bees got off to an ugly start as they trailed 13-0 to start the game. The Bees didn't score until the 13:06 mark of the first half.

Despite the cold start, the Bees managed to shoot 40% in the half and converted on 12-30 shots from the field. A late Burkle basket cut the Missouri Valley lead to 37-30 at the half.

In the second half, Coach Ray Shovlain started a smaller, quicker lineup and got back into the game.  The Bees began to pound the ball inside to Fahrenkrog and Burkle on almost every possession and clawed their way back from a 13-point hole.

Fahrenkrog's clutch free throws gave St. Ambrose their first win of the season. He finished with 19 points, on 6-11 shooting from the field and went 7-7 from the line. Fahrenkrog recorded his first double double of the season by hauling 13 rebounds, six of which were offensive.

Alex Burkle knocked in 19 points and went 9-16 from the field. He was only 1-5 from the line, but had eight rebounds for the game. Freshman guard Reggie Shipp also chipped in 13 points on 5-8 shooting.

Despite having 25 turnovers, the Bees won the rebounding advantage 42-35 and had 24 second chance points. The Bees also benefited from Missouri Valley's in ability to hit free throws. The Vikings only connected on 4-16 shots from the line.

Now 1-3 on the season, the Bees will play their first home game of the season against St. Francis (IL) on November 20th.
