Bees make it two in a row against Missouri Valley

Davenport, IA-  Earlier this season, the Fighting Bees escaped with a one-point win when senior forward Adam Fahrenkrog hit two free throws with .4 seconds remaining to defeat Missouri Valley. This time around, the Bees had a much easier time as they cruised to an 86-78 win at home.

St. Ambrose jumped out to an 11-4 lead following an Alex Burkle lay-up off an Alex Washington assist. The Bees knocked down five of their first seven shots while Missouri Valley connected on just two of their first eight attempts from the field.

The Bees lead blossomed to fourteen points as the Bees used a 15-2 run midway through the first half.  Alex Burkle and Reggie Shipp each knocked down a three pointer during the run and Brett Cole, Pat Hogan and Fahrenkrog also had baskets of their own.

With multiple players contributing, the Bees took a 49-40 lead into the half.

St. Ambrose maintained a steady lead as they traded baskets with Missouri Valley for the first five minutes of the half. However, following an Adam Fahrenkrog jumper at the 15:35 mark, the Bees only managed one point over their next six possessions and Missouri Valley crawled back into the game.

With 8:37 left in the half, Craig Jones stole the ball from Adam Parrot and hit Caleb Moon for a three pointer to give Missouri Valley their only lead of the game at 57-55. The Bees quickly responded with two Adam Fahrenkrog free throws, a lay-up from Parrot and a lay-up from Alex Washington to give them a lead they would never relinquish.

For the game, the Bees hit 56.3% of their shots from the field and went 10-20 from beyond the arc. Fahrenkrog finished with a double double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Brett Cole knocked in 20 points for the Bees and Alex Burkle and Reggie Shipp had 14 and 13 points, respectively.

With the win, the Bees improved to 6-6 on the season. They will be back in action on December 19-21st when they play three games in the St. Xavier Holiday Tournament in Chicago, Illinois.
