St. Rita linkster signs with Bees

St. Ambrose University Men’s Golf Coach Jeff Griebel is excited to announce the signing of one of the top high school golfers from the Chicago Area.

Vincent Collaro, a senior at Chicago St. Rita High School (Illinois) has signed a letter of intent and will attend St. Ambrose in the fall 2007. 

Collaro posted a 39.4 stroke average in competitive matches his senior season at St. Rita and was medalist in three fall 2006 matches.  He was an individual sectional qualifier and finished 2^nd at the Mount Carmel Invitational with a score of 71.  He was named most valuable player of his high school golf team both his freshman and senior seasons.

“We are very pleased to have a player the caliber of Vincent Collaro joining our golf program next season, “ said Coach Griebel.  “He has played for a very talented and successful high school program at Chicago St. Rita and will bring experience and confidence to our team next fall.”

Collaro will be joining a St. Ambrose golf team that has won the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Region 7 Championship and qualified for the NAIA National Golf Tournament nine of the last ten years.  St. Ambrose had a school record 3^rd place team finish at the 2004 NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship and finished 4^th in 2006. They are currently ranked 4^th in the 2007 NAIA Men’s Golf National Poll.
