Larson inks with the Bees

St. Ambrose University Men’s Golf Coach Jeff Griebel is excited to announce the signing of one of the top high school golfers from Iowa.

Alex Larson, a senior at Dubuque Senior High School (IA.) has signed a letter of intent and will attend St. Ambrose in the fall 2008.  He is the son of Kim & Loren Larson of Dubuque, Iowa.  

Larson finished in 9th place at the 2007 Iowa High School Boys Golf Class 4-A State Championship and received Class 4A first team all state honors.

Larson was named to the Boy’s Golf Mississippi Valley All Conference 1st team his senior season as well as the MVC All Academic Team.  He was also the Dubuque city champion in 2007.

“We are very pleased to have a player the caliber of Alex Larson joining our golf

program next season, “ said Coach Griebel.  “He is a very talented player and will bring experience and confidence to our team next fall.”

Larson will be joining a St. Ambrose golf team that has won the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Region 7 Championship and qualified for the NAIA National Golf Tournament ten of the last eleven years.  St. Ambrose had a school record 3rd place team finish at the 2004 NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship in Olathe, Kansas and finished 4th in 2006. They are currently ranked 11th in the NAIA Men’s Golf National Poll.
