Fighting Bees are MCC men's golf champs again!

For the fifth consecutive year the St. Ambrose Men’s Golf Team captured the team title in the Midwest Collegiate Conference Golf Championship played at Bear Creek Golf Course in Forest City, Iowa.

 After trailing by 3 shots after round one, the Fighting Bee’s rallied with a closing round score of 293 to finish 4 shots ahead of second place Iowa Wesleyan College.

 St. Ambrose sophomore Dusty Drenth had a team low score of 69 on day two to finish in 3rd place individually with a 36 hole total of 146.  He was named to the MCC All-Tournament Team. 

 Senior Chris Leiser posted rounds of 72-76=148 and finished in 7th place.  All-American senior Drew Chuipek had his best finish of the spring season with rounds of 73-76=149 to finish 9th. Junior Adam White fired rounds of 77-74=151 to finish 15th.  Rounding out the top five was Senior Tim Harrigan with rounds of 81-74=155 finishing 22nd.

 This was the 14th Midwest Collegiate Conference Team Championship for St. Ambrose since the league started men’s golf as a conference sport in 1992.

 St. Ambrose is currently ranked 13th in the NAIA Men’s Golf National Rankings and has qualified for the 2008 NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship May 13-16 at Indiana National Golf Club in Plymouth, Indiana.
