Reasons to Study Foreign Languages

 
German Studies
 
Description of the Major

The German Studies major has three components:

1.  Core courses: 6 credits hours taken on the SAU campus, one of which must
     be GS 400.
             
                   GS 301 and 302                          6 credits
                   GS 303: German Short Story        3 credits
                   GS 304: German Film                  3 credits
                   GS 400: Capstone Experience      3 credits

2.  Electives:  
(substitutions are allowed): 12 hours

3.  Study Abroad:  a minimum of one full semester (15-16 weeks) or two summer semesters ( 7-8 weeks each one) in Germany or Austria studying German, 24
credits hours.


 
Hohenschwangau Castle (Germany)

Description of the Minor (24 hours)

 1.  GS through 302 as well as GS 303 or GS 304  (9 hours)

2.  Same electives as above (12 hours)

3.  Short-term (minimum of two-week) study abroad experience (3 hours)
