Mérida, Yucatán, México
Mérida is a city near and dear to the heart of Professor
Fox (Spanish). As a teenager, she finished high school in Mérida and, in the
process, became fluent in the language, immersed in the culture, and developed
extraordinary friendships and “family” relationships that she still maintains to
this day. Living in the Yucatán also afforded her the opportunity to visit some
of the most amazing sites on earth, from Pre-Columbian ruins (pyramids!) and
contemporary Mayan villages, to beautiful, white beaches. Since her teens, Dr.
Fox has returned to Mérida and the surrounding areas many times on personal
visits and as a college study abroad leader. If any of this intrigues you, stop
into Dr. Fox’s office (120A McMullen Hall) to chat with her some time—it’s one
of her favorite subjects. J
