Study Abroad

An integral component of the International Studies minor
is study abroad. There are many advantages to studying in another
country. First, students perfect their language skills. At
the same time, they have the opportunity to take specialized courses at
a foreign university. The cultural experience is also important.
Students live in culture different from their own. They can also
discover for themselves their place in the wider world to come. Finally
study abroad can be not only a life transforming experience personally,
but it can also convince students, in ways a U.S. -based course of study
cannot, that a sophisticated knowledge of world affairs will be increasingly
necessary for a variety of careers in the 2lst century. All students
will be strongly encouraged to study abroad through a St. Ambrose sponsored
experience or through the various programs with which St. Ambrose has affiliation.
