Keith Haan joined the faculty at St. Ambrose University in the fall of
1999 as Director of Choirs, directing the University Chorale and Chamber
Singers. He also teaches applied voice, choral conducting, and music
education courses. His previous teaching experience includes 24 years in
the Iowa public schools and five years at Glenville State College in
Glenville, West Virginia where he was also chair of the Division of Fine
Arts. He taught at North Scott High School in Eldridge, Iowa for 12 years
and was the choir director at Grace Lutheran Church, Davenport until he
left to pursue a Ph.D. at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Prior to
North Scott, Haan taught in Humboldt, Goose Lake, and Grundy Center.
Haan has been active as music director and actor in Countryside Community Theatre and The Quad City Music Guild. He also spent five summers at Timber Lake Playhouse in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. He was music director for the musicals produced by The Aracoma Story, Inc. at Chief Logan State Park for four summers in Logan, West Virginia.
Haan holds a B.A. and an M.A. from the University of Northern Iowa and a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia where his degree support areas include music education, choral conducting, and music theater. He has done additional course work at Meadow Brook School of Music in Rochester, Michigan and was a summer music fellow at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois.
