Joan Trapp, DMA

 

TrappJoan Trapp is a native Iowan, raised in Cedar Falls and a Quad-City resident since 1973. Her education includes the B.Mus. summa cum laude and M.Mus. degrees from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois where her teacher was Pauline Lindsey. She was awarded the D.M.A. from the University of Iowa in 1978 after studies with James Avery.

Since living in Davenport, Dr. Trapp has been on the faculty of St. Ambrose University where she is presently professor of music. In addition to piano, she teaches music history and literature and world music. She is a frequent adjudicator at local and regional piano competitions and festivals.

Dr. Trapp performs regularly in the bi-state region. She plays with the Serenata Trio and the Classique Quintette, as well as with her colleagues at St. Ambrose. She has twice been a soloist with the Quad-City Wind Ensemble and was guest soloist for the 35th anniversary gala of the Quad-City Friends of Chamber Music.
