Course Requirements for a Bachelor of Music Education (BME)
In addition to the General
Education requirements, students pursuing a BME degree must
successfully complete the following courses:
Music
Applied lessons - 8 semesters
Ensemble - 7 semesters
Theory - Four semesters of Harmony and Sight Singing plus Counterpoint and
Form and Analysis (total of 21 credits)
Music History - 9 credits (three semesters)
Conducting - 2 semesters
Piano - 2 credits
Methods and Materials (with an instrumental or vocal focus) - 3 credits
Technology and Practicum - 3 credits
Techniques (Brass & Percussion, Woodwind, String, Guitar and Voice for
a total of 4 credits)
