Services
Escorts
As always, students are advised to walk in pairs, but
for times when that isn't possible, the Security Office is there to
help. Escorts are available 24 hours a day, and may be
arranged by contacting the security desk in Cosgrove Hall at
563/333-6104. Escorts are available to and from any on-campus
location.
Educational Programs
The Security Office offers several programs to raise the security
consciousness and overall level of safety for members of the university
community. Programs include campus safety and risk reduction, basic self
defense, Rape Aggression Defense (RAD), travel safety, building security
audits, alcohol and drug awareness, and workplace violence. Additional
programs can be added as requested by students and staff.
Blue Cap Phones
For emergencies, six
blue cap phones are located
around campus. Activation of this phone opens a direct line between the
caller and the 24-hour security desk in Cosgrove Hall. A strobe light on
the top of the phone is also activated, directing attention to the caller.
R.A.D.
St. Ambrose offers Rape Aggression Defense courses
several times a year. RAD's objective is, "To
develop and enhance the options of self defense, so they may
become viable considerations to the woman who is
attacked."
For more
information or program dates contact the Director of
Security. You may also visit the RAD. website at www.rad-systems.com.
Lock-outs
From time to time, students may find themselves locked
out of their residential room. When this occurs, students
need to fill out an unlock form at the Cosgrove security
desk. Once the proper paperwork has been completed, the
rounds guard will be available to unlock the student's room
at his/her earliest convenience. The first unlock is without
charge, but subsequent lock-outs will cost the student.
