Graduate Special Education Students......

Graduation or Completion of Endorsement Requirements:

Masters Students - As you approach the completion of your program requirement, contact the Graduate Special Education office (563/322-1034) for a St. Ambrose University Application for Graduation form.  If you apply for graduation online, please be sure to print two copies for verification.  One for your records and one for the Graduate Special Education office.

Special Education Endorsement Procedures

All students are required to have an endorsement plan.  At the beginning of the final course leading to requested endorsement, the student should request the following:

  1. Request for Special Education Audit form.  This form should be returned to the Graduate Special Education Office.  Please remember that the audit cannot officially begin until grades have been posted.

  2. Application for Iowa Licensure.  This form should be completed and returned to the Graduate Special Education Office along with a check for the appropriate fee.

  1. A research topic should be chosen after consultation with the student's advisor as early in the student's program as possible.

  2. A written research plan must be approved by SAU's Institutional Review Board no later than 30 hours into the student's graduate work.  (An example of the Institutional Review Form in on the IRB website.)

  3. Upon approval of the Institutional Review Board, the student may register for Research Project (SpEd 700).  Grades for the research Project will be given as In Progress until the completion of the final, approved research project.  When the research project is accepted, a grade of Pass (P) is given for all In Progress credits.

  4. The final deposit of the Research Project (at least three original copies: 2 for the department and 1 for the student) is to be submitted on white, 25-pound weight,
8-1/2 x 11 inch archival (acid-free) paper.  The paper stock should be of a least 25-percent rag content.  All deposits are to be unbound, with type on one side of the page only.
