Form 1098T

St. Ambrose University has contracted with University Accounting Services to provide 1098T forms (tuition information for year end tax filing). The 1098T forms will be available on the UAS document site.

Students will receive an email to their university email account from “inform@getmydocument.com” when forms are ready to be accessed. Students who have not accessed their 1098T form at that website by late January will have a form mailed to them from UAS. Anytime thereafter, students can obtain a copy of their 1098T form by going to the UAS web site.

The IRS instructs institutions to report either payments received or amounts billed for qualified tuition and expenses on the 1098-T. SAU reports qualified tuition and related expenses that were billed during the tax year and scholarship and grants.

For regulations and information about filing for either the Hope or Lifetime Learning tax credits, students, parents, and guardians should contact their tax accountant or go online to the IRS website and access IRS Form 8863 for more information.

Individuals filing for the tax credits are not required to send a copy of the 1098T form with their taxes. The 1098T form is for the student’s records. In most instances, copies of the student’s tuition statements and cancelled checks can be used when preparing taxes.

Since the University sends your 1098 and information to the IRS, there is no need to attach a copy of the form to your tax return.
