Directing Class One-Act Plays Successful
Playing to packed houses on Sunday and Tuesday evenings, the
directing class saw their first fully mounted one-act
productions performed in front of pleased audience. Sunday
evening hosted performances of Megan O'Connell's fast paced
short play, "The Original Last Wish Baby", and Lou
Hare's "Sexual Perversity in Chicago", by David
Mamet. Both shows were a comedies that satirized modern
society, "Last Wish Baby" poking fun at our media
frenzied society, and "Sexual Perversity" satirizing
modern relationships based on sex.
Tuesday
evening's productions were Dan Hale's "He &
She", and Jamie Em Johnson's "No Exit", by John
Paul Sartre. "He & She" offered the
audience a glimpse into gender struggles of defining roles.
"No Exit" was a modern existentialist view of Hell,
and how we act as one another's torturers.
Though the process was often grueling and trying, each
director explained that the process and final production were
a sweet reward.
