Dillards has affordable holiday gifts

Clueless about what to get your girlfriend for Christmas? Sales associate at Dillards Jeannie Bond may have the answer.

Bond said ponchos, scarves and broaches are popular this season because size is not as important with these gifts.

“Most girls like to purchase at least one new scarf each winter so she can match it to her outfit,” Bond said.

She suggested purchasing a scarf or poncho with hot pink and black in it.

“Hot pink and black seem to be the colors for winter,” she said. “We have several items that incorporate both. If you don’t think hot pink and black are appropriate colors for her, try matching a scarf or broach to her favorite sweater.”

If the budget is a little higher, try matching some mittens and a stocking cap to the scarf or poncho you picked out.

“A girl loves it when her boyfriend puts in a little extra effort to get a really great gift,” Bond said.

Girlfriends are not the only people who need gifts this Christmas. Dillards also offers a selection of watches including name brands Kenneth Cole, Guess, Fossil and Anne Klein.

“Watches are always a great way to go,” Bond said. “We mostly sell Fossil watches, but for men Kenneth Cole is very popular.”

Dillards also offers sizing on watches.

“The trend for watches now is the thick cloth band with the silver face,” Bond said.

Women’s watches are also available but they’re changing in style.

“They are getting bigger bands and bigger faces,” Bond said. “A silver band with a light pink face is very hot right now.”

Watches and other jewelry can be returned for reimbursement at Dillards, but if all else fails, get a gift card.

“Gift cards are a safe bet if you’re unsure of a gift,” Bond said.
