Dear Editor, As an avid reader of “The Buzz”, I was disappointed in the tone of one the sections in the past issue. Dan Tomlin’s “CAB shows no ‘drive’ in spring concert (click here) shows a little too much “drive”. I’m not sure when the Buzz started giving the Sports Editor a chance to write candidly on subjects other than sports, but perhaps it is time to revoke that privilege. Tomlin’s selection was nothing other than a half page putting down CAB, ragging on it’s members and generally being sarcastic. CAB has over 30 members, and putting them down in a forum where they have no chance to defend themselves is far from fair. For the most part, they work extremely hard and get less credit than they deserve. Running activities on a weekly basis is a strenuous and time consuming job, and they often do it thanklessly. As for the spring concert, of course they want to make a profit! The more money we make this year, the more we have to spend on next year’s concert! Was the way CAB selected the band for this year the best way to go about it? Maybe not. I have to admit I was a little frustrated when I found out the decision was made solely by CAB. It would’ve been nice to have a say in things. I don’t agree that CAB warranted the bullying it received in the Buzz. I appreciate that Mr. Tomlin encouraged sending constructive criticism to CAB. There is always room for improvement, and I believe their leadership understands that. Unfortunately, this was followed up with the suggestion not to do this because, “CAB doesn’t listen to any of us outside the club.” Maybe you need to speak to them before they can listen, not just complain in a newspaper. I hope that diatribes like this do not appear in The Buzz again. They are neither helpful or appreciated. I would like to again invite people to get involved with CAB, or direct your comments and concerns to them so next year the spring concert can be the best it can be.
