Making school history once again, Joe Demory is just starting to be known as the best.
Demory, who is already considered the best golfer to go through St. Ambrose, has just been named the number one golfer in the NAIA. As if that wasn’t enough, Demory is also ranked 12 in the entire nation. That includes all divisions of the NCAA.

Demory has received national accolades for the past two years, including being named NAIA first team All-American in 2004. Demory has also been names NAIA Region VII Player of the Year for the past two season.

His current scoring average of 70.86 is the lowest per round average in the NAIA. This average is also just a quarter of a stroke off of Tiger Woods scoring average at Stanford.
While Demory’s scoring average has him just at 12 this season, in past years he would be the recipient of the Golfstat Cup (Awarded to the collegiate golfer with the lowest per round average). The current Golfstat Cup Standings has Ryan Moore of UNLV at the top with an average of 68.60.

For Demory and the Fighting Bees, the spring golf season starts with their defense of the Western Illinois Beu Classic in late March. This spring will just be a tune up for the Fighting Bees who look to improve on their third place finish at nationals last season with the school’s first NAIA team championship.

The latest NAIA polls have the Fighting Bees ranked 5 in the country. The NAIA National Championships will be held May 24-27 at the Prairie Highlands Golf Club in Olathe, Kan.
