April’s Ambrosian of the month is Ryan Dye, assistant professor and chair of the history and geography department.

He also chairs the Faculty Assembly, and is a member of the board of advisors for the Catholic studies lecture.

“I’m very grateful to be recognized by the university for my work,” said Dye.
Dye has also done a lot for the Irish studies program here at St. Ambrose. He teaches Irish history courses and does a lot to promote the study abroad program in Carlow, Ireland.

He has helped build the Irish studies program by getting students interested in Irish culture.

He also works with the St. Patrick Society.

“An award like this inspires you to want to do more and to want to continue to work hard,” said Dye.

Being the advisor for the honor society Phi Eta Sigma, he was influential in the adoption of a Rwandan family. Students and Dye worked with the World Relief Organization in helping the family furnish their apartment. They also visit the family to help them adjust to American life.

“This award says a lot about St. Ambrose, that it gives faculty the opportunity to pursue many different interests and encourages us to do that,” said Dye. “And I think that’s pretty unique.”
