Last spring the Student Government Association (SGA) had shown an interest in seeing some improvements made to the SAU website. SGA approached the SAU Director of Web Communications Ted Stephens III with their ideas and suggestions and he agreed to take on the challenge.

Stephens knew this day was coming and had been preparing by attending conferences and conducting research on structure, techniques, and design. Director of Creative Services Sally Paustian and student intern Heather Venema joined in the effort.

“We researched other web pages on higher education designs,” Stephens said, “and determined what would be more comprehensive to not only faculty, staff, and students applying to SAU, but to actual students enrolled here at the university. It needs to be for everyone.”

With that in mind, two more links were added to the homepage, one for current students and one for friends and family. According to Stephens, the philosophy of the new website is not only to update the appearance of the page but to make it more accessible to students and potential students.

Also, there is a link for anyone visiting the site that would like general information about SAU. This can be accessed through the homepage, which has also been designed to bring a higher yield of students to site.

The “News and Events” portion of the website has also been updated. While visitors can still get current information about campus events, the SAU community can now submit their event to be posted on the website through the website.

And if you were wondering what to wear to the football game, you can now have access to the weather forecast. The site will also feature the menu for the cafeteria. The website can still be found at the same address, www.sau.edu.
