Nov. 4, 2004 Halloween. The time of year kids dress up as cartoon characters or action heroes and head out on the street. They search for candy and other goods at every door they greet. But Halloween fun can't be outdone with nasty weather that stinks. Last Wednesday, a time-honored tradition dating back to the mid 90’s continued as little ghouls and goblins grabbed their pumpkin pales to roam the St. Ambrose University campus. St. Ambrose Trick or Treat Night, sponsored by Residence Life, CAB, and SGA, gave parents the opportunity to provide a safe and fun environment for their children as they searched for candy, their holy grail. “It’s a fun and safe way to enjoy trick or treating instead of going around on a dark night with the possibility of it raining,” trick or treat night coordinator Alexis Ingersoll said. Students that gave their time to provide smiles on the little faces greeted kids and their parents. The trick or treaters separated and followed tour guides as they ventured into Cosgrove, Rohlman, and Davis Halls. Residents decorated and gathered on their floors to pass out treats and provide fun activities for the kids and parents. Some students even opted to dress up for the occasion. Other activities available for the trick of treaters were face painting, best costume competitions, mummy wrapping, and a guessing game. The event was open to the Quad City community, faculty and staff members who took full advantage of the opportunity. “It means a lot for my kids because they’ll grow up with the connections of Ambrose,” Director of Student Success Programs Maureen Baldwin said. |
