Nov. 4, 2004 Family weekend is a way for families to catch-up on everything that has been going on in everyone’s busy lives. St. Ambrose families get together and attend various events scheduled throughout the weekend of Nov. 5-7. “It made my job so much easier when parents got their hotel reservations in as soon as possible,” said Rachel McMahon, head of Family Weekend. She also is the head of Siblings Weekend, which is scheduled for Feb. 25-27. Friday Nov. 5 is the kick-off to the activity-filled family weekend. From 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. in lower Cosgrove, students can get together with their family and friends to have a free old fashioned picture taken. People are encouraged to wear SAU spirit gear. Also on Friday, Tune-In Entertainment is planned for 8:00 p.m. in Cosgrove Hall. It’s a fast paced comedy game with over a hundred trivia questions in many categories. Prizes will be awarded. There will also be a dessert reception. The morning of Nov. 6, everyone is welcome to the Bishop’s House Inn for a continental breakfast. Families can meet Dr. and Mrs. Rogalski and tour this late-1800s mansion. In the afternoon, cheer on the bees as they take on McKendree College at Brady Stadium. There will be a social hour before the family banquet later that night. In addition, the Neil Diamond tribute band Love on the Rocks will perform a concert. Bright and early on Nov. 7, a family weekend mass will be held in Christ the King Chapel. A family brunch is scheduled afterwards along with an art exhibit opening in the afternoon. “I'm looking forward to family weekend because I'll get to be with my family,” said Laura Fograse. “My parents are always coming to pick me up or drop me off. They never actually come stay and see what there is to do around campus. I'm excited to show them everything and spend time with them in the environment that I'm in.” |
