Academics
In their academic pursuits, seminarians may choose from the more than 80 majors and
concentrations offered at St. Ambrose. Seminarians must also successfully complete 24
credit hours of philosophy and 12 credit hours of theology in fulfillment of the U.S.
Bishop's Program of Priestly Formation requirements for entrance into major seminary.
Admission
The seminary community is made up of both traditional college age students, directly out
of high school, as well as students who have already attained an undergraduate degree who
come to complete their pre-theology requirements.
To apply to the seminary program, students must
fulfill entrance requirements for admission to St. Ambrose University and have the
sponsorship of their bishop and vocation director.
Throughout the school's history,
graduates of the Seminary have been sponsored by and ordained to the priesthood not only
for the Diocese of Davenport, but also for the Dioceses of Des Moines, Peoria, Rockford,
Nashville, Memphis, and Knoxville.
