Queen Bees win in shootout
DAVENPORT, Iowa—
The Queen Bees set their second school record of the season by recording the
most total points between two teams (197) in their 101-96 win over NAIA Division
I Olivet Nazarene.
Subbing in waves of five every minute, the Tigers looked to push the Bees into
an up and down game. In 2006, their plan was successful as Olivet rolled 105-68.
However, this season, St. Ambrose was well prepared for the fast paced game and
took the action at the Tigers.
Trailing, 56-49 at the half, the Queen Bees stepped up their defense and limited
the Tigers to just 40 points on 39.4% shooting in the second half. After giving
up 10 threes in the first half, the Tigers managed only 7-24 from beyond the arc
in the second half.
Sophomore guard Jenny Clark set career highs in scoring with 26 points and 12
assists. Clark, a sophomore from Cambridge, Illinois, knocked in 8-15 shots from
the field and went 7-8 from the line. With her 12 assists, Clark is currently
leading all of NAIA Division II in assists per game (8.5).
Ali Dolphin also had a double-double for the Queen bees as she scored 19 points
and had 11 rebounds. 10 of her 11 rebounds were offensive. Callie Sobaski was
the recipient of several Clark assists as she dropped in 17 points and added 6
rebound in 20 minutes of action.
Mary Burmeister, Dara Widdop and Amy Fulfs combined for 32 points on 11-17
shooting between them.
With the win, the Queen Bees improved to 3-1 on the season. They will have their
first conference match-up of the year on November 19th when they host the Clarke
Crusaders.
