Queen Bees blowout Clarke in conference opener
DAVENPORT, Iowa—
The Queen Bees basketball team opened the Midwest Collegiate Conference with a
resounding 104-39 victory over Clarke College.
Winners of their third game in a row, the Queen Bees went on a 16-4 run to open
the game. SAU got baskets from five different girls in the game's first five
minutes.
After a Clarke basket cut the lead to 10 at 16-6, St. Ambrose blew the game open
with a a 23-4 run to extend their lead to 39-10 with 5:03 remaining in the first
half. Amy Fulfs capped off the run by knocking down a three pointer of an Ali
Dolphin assist and made knocked down two free throws a possession later.
Clarke was only able to score 8 points over the final six minutes of the half as
the Queen Bees went into intermission with a 54-18 advantage.
In the second half, the Queen Bees picked up right where they left off with a
28-4 run to open the second half to push the lead to 82-22.
The Queen bees forced 38 turnovers and capitalized by scoring 48 points off of
turnovers. St. Ambrose also had a season high 32 assists in the game.
Ali Dolphin led all scorers with 23 points on 9-11 shooting with 5 rebounds and
4 steals as well. Amy Fulfs finished with 13 points and knocked down 3 of her
four field goals from beyond the arc. Four other Queen Bees reached double
digits in points and 10 girls reached the scoring column for Coach Altenhofen.
Now 4-1 and 1-0 in the MCC, the Queen Bees will host Augustana College on
November 21st in a battle for Quad City bragging rights.
