Queen Bees capitalize on Augie turnovers

DAVENPORT, Iowa—

The formula for Coach Altenhofen's Bees has been simple this year: Force a lot of turnovers and capitalize. The Queen Bees did just that in Wednesday's 89-57 win over Augustana by forcing 39 turnovers and scoring 36 points off of turnovers.

Augustana kept it close for about 10 minutes before the Bees swarming defense took over. Trailing 13-17 with 11:08 remaining in the first half, Casey Breitbach hit a three pointer that sparked 24-5 run that all but but the game out of reach.

Down 1, the Queen Bees' Ali Dolphin hit a lay-up at the 10:00 mark to put them up for good. Following a Meagan Skahill turnover, Whitney Rumbold knocked down another three pointer. Dolphin stole the ball from Skahill again and Clark hit a three pointer to cap an 8-0 run in a 24 second span.

The Queen Bees continued to push the ball in the second half and hit 54.5 % of their shot attempts in the second half. The Bees also finished with a season-high 26 steals.

Jenny Clark led the Bees with 17 points on 5-17 shooting. She went 3-10 from beyond the arc. Ali Dolphin added 16 points on 6-8 shooting from the field and had a career-best seven steals.

Mary Burmeister, Casey Breitbach and Whitney Rumbold combined to score 34 points.

St. Ambrose (5-1), now winners of five in a row, will head to Clinton, Iowa on November 24-25th to face Purdue Calumet and Illinois Institute of technology in the River Cities Classic hosted by Ashford University.
