Queen Bees sweep Florida competition
North Miami, Florida—
Besides squeezing in some of Florida's warm weather, the Queen Bees found time
to go 2-0 against Florida schools Johnson & Wales and Webber International.
In their first match-up, the Queen bees offense and defense fed off one another
as they blew out Johnson & Wales 91-33. The Queen Bees had 19 steals as a team
and forced 31 Johnson & Wales turnovers that led to 31 easy points.
St. Ambrose also shot the ball extremely well, hitting 55.6% of their shots. SAU
went 35-63 from the field and had more baskets than Johnson & Wales had points.
Ali Dolphin recorded a career-high 27 points on 10-13 shooting from the field.
She also went 7-7 from the line and had six rebounds and five steals. Whitney
Rumbold scored 13 points on 4-6 shooting, including 3-4 from beyond the arc.
Rumbold also finished five steals and a game-high seven assists.
Dara Widdop rounded out the double-digit scoring performers with 11 points.
Widdop went 4-6 from the field and hit 3-4 from the line. She also hauled in
four rebounds and had three blocks.
The next day the Queen Bees headed to Lake Wales, Florida to take on Webber
International.
Once again, the Queen Bees pressure defense set the tone and Webber
International never was able to get into the game. The Queen Bees forced 31
turnovers and recorded 20 steals in their 76-45 victory.
Up 37-27 at the break, the Queen bees utilized an 11-3 run to open the half
and blew the game open. The Bees had five different players score in the run
that left them with an 18-point lead with just 13:25 to play.
The Queen Bees had four players reach the double-digit mark in scoring and
all but one player made the scoring column.
Jenny Clark led all scorers with 17 points on 6-18 shooting from the field.
Clark hit 3-6 shots from three, recorded five rebounds, four steals and eight
assists.
Ali Dolphin dropped in 16 points on 6-10 shooting and went perfect from the
line (4-4). Dolphin had three steals and six rebounds as well.
Casey Breitbach and Callie Sobaski scred 14 and 10 points to round out the
Queen Bees top scoring.
With the wins, the Queen Bees move to 12-1 on the season. Once they return
from Florida, they will head to Chicago, Illinois to take on Spring Arbor in the
opening round of the St. Xavier Tournament on December 27th.
