Welcome back Queen Bee fans!

I’d like to start off by saying; I hope all of you had a great summer. My summer was filled with work, training for basketball, and filling out physical therapy applications. Although very busy, I did manage to squeeze in a week trip to Colorado with my parents, to visit my two older brothers who live in Fort Collins.

Over the summer our team managed to take part in a few different fundraising events and get together a few times to play some basketball. A few of us girls volunteered at the golf outing at TPC Deere Run, which is put on by the athletic programs here at SAU. Some of the girls also helped with cleaning a house that needed things done like taking down the wall paper and removing the carpet.

Now that we are in our 4thweek of school and 3rd week of pre-season workouts, I honestly couldn’t have been more eager to get started with this season and get back to work with my team and coaches! I would like to welcome our new-comers  and their families to our team; Annie Smith-sophomore from Davenport, Colleen Krahn-freshman from Chicago, Sarah Medland-freshman from Peoria, and Stephanie Pogwizd- freshman from Aurora.  We have a great group of girls this year and are really working hard to get ready for our official practices to start.

I’d also like to recognize a few girls on our team who have had really good performances over the past few weeks during our pre-season workouts. Lauren Ryan and Tara Sigona have had great success this past month and I’m really excited about the strides they have already made.

I thank you again for all of your support and hope you are looking forward to this year as much as we are!

I can't believe this school year is almost done and how fast it has flown by! We are now down to one week of regular classes then finals week! With finals week coming up and school ending, our team is hoping to still reach one of our goals set at the beginning of the year which was to be top 20 in the country academically. We are so close and I hope we get there!

Our team just finished our 6th week of post-season workouts, where we did a lot of scrimmaging and weight training. We had a lot of players do a lot of good things in those six weeks, especially Lauren Ryan and Megan Storjohann. Those two put together a tremendous post season for themselves and I was extremely pleased to see how much they gained individually in that short of time.

Over the past week our team has also gotten to experience a few pretty cool things together. We first all got an opportunity to go see the SAU spring musical "Sweeney Todd." The theater department did such a good job with everything and the actors were great. We also attended a leadership academy as a team last week. At this event, one of our own, Dr. John Byrnes, was our speaker in which he talked about going after your dreams and setting your goals high. He really is amazing and his accomplishments are outstanding. He ran 100 miles through the Rocky Mountains in 30 hours! Wow!

Well thank you again to our fans and supporters. The last few months of school are always different not being able to see everyone's family and friends every week at our games!

Although this season ended a few weeks earlier than we all would've liked, Coach reminded us after our tough loss to not forget how great of a second semester we had. As much as I wish I could of said we were going to Sioux City for the National Tournament, I can't help but to be extremely proud of the 13-3 finish our team put together. We came together, fought hard, and I can't say enough good things about the girls I played with this season. Before we left for spring break, we gathered for a great team meeting which was extremely motivating when looking toward post season and next year!

I, as well as our team, would like to thank Coach Nate and Coach Goetz for everything they've done for us this year. We are lucky to have them here at SAU, and I can't wait to see what comes from all of us working together to get to Sioux City next year!!

Thank you to all of those who traveled to watch our final game at Iowa Wesleyan. Your support never goes unappreciated and it means the world to all of us to have you there in the stands.

A huge congratulations to Ali Dolphin who received MCC Player of the Year. This award is well deserved Ali, and I am so proud of all that she has accomplished already. Also, a thank you and congrats to Amy Fulfs on a tremendous senior year. She has been such an amazing teammate and friend to all us of. Her hard work over the past two years is very much appreciated and she will be extremely missed on and off the court next year. We love you!

Thanks again to all who have supported us along our journey this year!

Feb. 13, 2009

To start off, I just want to thank all of the parents and fans again for cheering us on down this final stretch. We survived a tough spurt of 4 games in 8 days and have been playing great basketball with a record of 11-3 in our last 14 games! Our hard work and great play has earned us a home game in the first round of the MCC tournament. With only two more regular season games before the tournament, we will be working hard to end this season with a bang!

Another congratulations to Ali Dolphin in reaching her 1000th career point vs. Viterbo last Saturday. What an amazing accomplishment as a sophomore, and she is only getting better. I also ask that we all keep Megan Cash in our thoughts as she will be working to recover from her recent ACL tear.

Thanks again for all of the support, and Mrs. Dolphin if you're reading this, the goodie bags and treats have been amazing lately! :)

To all Queen Bee fans and recruits, this is Jenny Clark. I am going to start doing a bi-weekly blog to keep you all updated on the life of the Queen Bees! As starters, I can't tell you all enough how much I love being a Bee, and being a part of this program! We have become a very close team/family this year and I hope all of you have enjoyed any games you may have seen!

We just recently had our first 5 game winning streak of the season, which included a trip to St. Mary of the Woods! The trip was a great experience for us as a team, and we also got a great UNO tournament in at the hotel! With prizes at stake, things got competitive, people were accused of cheating, and my abs hurt the next morning from laughing so much! :) Needless to say this season has been a fun ride so far and we are looking forward to the rest of the season!

Also, a huge THANK YOU to all of our parents who helped out with the great meal after our Grand View game. Especially the Graziano family, it doesn't get much better than Italian home cooking!!

REMINDER: There is an Alumni game on Saturday, February 7th. Our Women's game begins at 1:00 and the Alumni game will be going on before then! Hope to see you all there!!
