     Head Coach Nathan Altenhofen

 

Nathan Altenhofen joins the Queen Bees staff after serving as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach for the Odessa College Lady Wranglers from 2004-2007, leading them to an impressive 80-15 record during his tenure. In 2007, Altenhofen was named the NJCAA Division I National Coach of the Year after guiding Odessa College to a 32-2 record and the 2007 NJCAA National Championship.

Altenhofen began his college coaching career at Arkansas State University, where he served as an assistant women’s basketball coach and recruiting coordinator from 1999-2002. From 2002-2003, Altenhofen worked as a talent scout for the All Star Girls Report, where he evaluated national girls’ high school basketball talent.

Following his stint with the All Star Girls Report, Altenhofen served one year as an assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Murray State from 2003-2004. His team set school records with six different players recording at least 27 or more steals and 3 players finishing the season with 20 or more blocks.

Altenhofen is a two-time WJCAC Coach of the Year in 2006 and 2007. He has coached six All-Conference players, four All-Region players, three All-Americans and two WJCAC Conference MVP’s.
Altenhofen finished his final two seasons at Odessa College with a 68-3 record, which was the best mark in all of college basketball. He left the Lady Wranglers after guiding them to 16 straight months in the NJCAA Top 10 National Poll and a 24 game home winning streak.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to get a quality person and coach to lead our women’s basketball program,” Athletic Director Ray Shovlain said. “Coach Altenhofen has had tremendous success the last three seasons. We feel confident that he will be able to accomplish the same at St. Ambrose.”

“As a coach, I have a lot of goals and mainly I hope to pass on some of my own better characteristics,” Coach Altenhofen said. “I want to get the student athletes involved in the school and the community and to represent St. Ambrose in a positive manner. I will work to instill strong work ethics in my players and to bring discipline in their lives both on and off the court.”

Assistant Coach Tim O'Neill

Tim is currently the Midwest Senior Territory Sales Representative for Power Lift®. Power Lift® is the leading innovator in the heavy duty strength training industry.

Tim served as the director for Quad Cities Sports Acceleration from 2001-2006, which is located within Plaza Physical Therapy, Davenport, IA. While with the Acceleration program Tim trained nearly 3,000 athletes from middle school age through professional level athletes in the Frappier Acceleration Sports Training Program.

Timothy has a B.A. degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Health Promotion, with an emphasis in Wellness and Fitness /Management. He offers a wealth of personal experience as a former full scholarship, three-year starter on the Northern Iowa team as well as a three-year all-conference shot putter on the track and field team.

While at the University of Northern Iowa, Tim worked under the 1999 NSCA Strength Coach of the Year Jim Kramer who served as the Coordinator of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Athletes at the USOTC in Colorado Springs, CO before landing the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at North Dakota State. Before Tim began at Quad Cities Sports Acceleration, he served as a strength, speed and conditioning coach at the Riekes Center for Human Enhancement in Menlo Park, CA where he trained many NFL, XFL, NBA, MLB and USATF athletes.

In addition to his responsibilities with the Acceleration program, Tim is in his 5th year as the boys and girls Head Track & Field coach, Defensive Coordinator and Strength and Conditioning coach at Assumption High School. Since O’Neill has been at the helm of the Track and Field program the Knights would post 3 runner-up finishes at the state meet in 2002 setting 6 school records in the process.


 

Assistant Coach Jennifer Goetz

Jennifer Goetz joins the Queen Bees coaching staff after playing four seasons for the Queen Bees. A four year starter at SAU, Jennifer was a MCC all-conference performer in each of her four seasons. Jennifer currently ranks 4th in all-time scoring with 2,032 points and 3rd in rebounding with 1,156 career rebounds.

After leading the Queen Bees in scoring with (15.1 ppg) and rebounding (8.7 rpg) last season, Jennifer was chosen as an NAIA 2nd Team All-American. Jennifer also was honored with being named Player of the Year in the MCC. Jennifer is originally from Keokuk, IA and graduated from Cardinal Stritch High School in 2003. Jennifer will graduate in December of 2007 with a degree in Early Childhood Education with a Special Ed Endorsement.
