Student studying in windowThe Women's Studies Program at St. Ambrose enriches the university community in several ways:
  • A minor in Women's Studies: available to students in any major, the minor offers an interdisciplinary academic focus on issues of women and gender.
  • An introduction to Women's Studies for the general student: Women's Studies 201 fulfills a general education requirement in social sciences, enabling students not minoring in Women's Studies to gain entry level knowledge and skills in this field.
  • Campus programs: every year, Women's Studies brings speakers and performers from around the world to the SAU campus, including lecturers from Iran, El Salvador, Russia, South Africa, and elsewhere.

Recognition of academic excellence: Women's Studies annually offers the Sr. Ritamary Bradley Prize for Research on Women and Gender to outstanding graduates.
