The
Women's Studies Program at St. Ambrose
enriches the university
community in several ways:
- A major in
Women's Studies: offers an interdisciplinary academic focus on
issues of women and gender.
- A minor in Women's Studies:
is available to students in any major and provides rich
opportunities for students to explore issues of women
and gender.
- An
introduction to Women's Studies for the general student:
Women's Studies 201 fulfills a general education requirement in
humanities, enabling students not majoring in
Women's Studies to gain entry level knowledge and skills
in this field.
- Campus
programs: every year, Women's Studies brings
speakers and performers from around the world to the SAU
campus, including lecturers from Iran, El Salvador,
Russia, South Africa, and elsewhere.
Recognition
of academic excellence: Women's Studies annually
offers the
Sr.
Ritamary Bradley Prize for Research on Women and
Gender to outstanding graduates. Iota Iota Iota, the
National Women's Studies Honor Society, also recognizes
academic excellence and provides leadership opportunities.
